MP @ NCFL Grand Nationals
Monday, May 28th, 2007Well, a lot of ice skating and shopping has occurred, and in
between, MP students did some fine work at the 56th NCFL
Grand National Tournament!
Each event had between 200-220 competitors from around the
country. To break in debate, students had to have at least
4 out of 5 wins and 11 out of 15 judges with 32 advancing.
In speech, to break the student had to be in the top 48 of
their event. Needless to say, just breaking is an honor!
In Lincoln-Douglas, Roshan Sadanani won 4 of his rounds with
a total of 10 ballots. He did not advanced. Lucas Scholl
won 4 of his rounds with 12 ballots and advanced to
double-octos. He lost a 2-1 decision in doubles. Congrats
to Lucas!
In Public Forum Debate, Kim Quach and Diana Norton won 4
rounds with a total of 12 ballots and advanced. They won
their double-octos round but dropped in their octos round.
This put them in the top 16!
In Student Congress, Herschel Patel, competing in the
hardest prelim chamber in the tournament, advanced after the
first session to Semis, and then advanced again to Finals!
He was awarded as a finalist!
Congrats to all who qualified and competed! Well done!
