Tracking the Tournament

Everyone is invited to check out the new Tracking The Tournament blog, maintained by Geoff Yost. Here, we’ll post updates from tournaments throughout the year as they happen, or rather, as we get internet access. It’s a great way to check on the team while we’re away, so be sure to make a visit!

Blue Key Information

Wednesday, October 25th, 2006

All students going to Blue Key are reminded that they can drop off luggage in Mr. West’s room tomorrow (Thursday) morning. The bus is planned to leave at 3:00 PM from the LA parking lot, so please be early in order to move luggage to the bus, etc. Also, ALL forms (teacher and parent) must be signed and turned in or you will be dropped. We will not wait for ANYONE, so make doubly sure to be early.

Last Minute IE Bluekey Meeting

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006
The IE team will be meeting on Wednesday afternoon as last minute preparation for Blue Key. The meeting will be held in SC-17 ( Ms. Acosta’s room which is our NEW personal room to hold meetings in … yeah!!! )

It is our last chance to practice before the tournament, so it is imperative that you be there. :-)

Schedule Update

The schedule has been updated. We will not be attending Jack Britt on the 11th of November, and we will now be attending Randleman HS on the 6th of January. Please see the schedule page for more information, including a printable version of the new schedule.

LD Bluekey Meeting

Sunday, October 22nd, 2006
The LD team will be meeting on Wednesday afternoon in LA-27 to hold practice rounds for Blue Key.
 
Please bring cases for both sides and be ready to debate by 2:30. It is our last chance to practice before the tournament, so it is imperative that you be there.

CONGRESS LEGISLATION FOR BLUE KEY

Congress legislation is now posted for Blue Key!  Go to www.bluekeydebate.com to download it!  There is no specific legislation assigned for your chamber, but the bills authored by people in your house MUST be included on your docket so be sure to prepare on those and then move on.  Herschel will be devising a system to split up research duties, PLEASE EMAIL HIM if you can help out with notes.  ALL COMPETITORS attending BLUE KEY need to contact Herschel to receive research assignments.
 
THERE ARE OVER 60 BILL!  We need a TEAM effort to get through this!!

October 20 – Clemson University Invites Prospective Students
Taffi Schurz, Director of Forensics at Clemson University, has invited students who may be interested in participating in college forensics at Clemson to attend a showcase at the Strom Thurmond Institute (Clemson campus) on Thursday, November 2. The showcase and cookie reception will last from 7-9 p.m. To RSVP and request more information, contact Taffi at tschurz@clemson.edu. This is a wonderful opportunity for talented students who want to participate in college forensics and perhaps receive some scholarship assistance as well.
