As the beginning of school draws near, we are looking forward to 2009-2010 being a successful year for the MP Debate team!
Hello all,
If you would no longer like to receive emails from MPDebate through the mailing lists, please email admin@mpdebate.org with your email address AND the lists you are currently subscribed to.
Thanks, and hope everyone is ready for another amazing year!
With 411 degrees, Myers Park is number 30 on the NFLs list of strongest programs. Congratulations to the team on this huge accomplishment.

The Desert Lights Las Vegas Nationals was a successful and exciting one for Myers Park Debate. To begin, we qualified more people to this Nationals, eleven, than any other before. In addition, we took home the prestigious Schwan School of Excellence in Debate Trophy, awarded to only eleven schools.
A special congratulations to Lucas Scholl who broke to finals in the Senate and the Public Forum Teams of Ramy El Kalioby & Lee Schuitema and Sean Ege & Everett Lozzi who broke to rounds 9 and 8 respectively. Congratulations to Roshan Sadanani, Sean Ege, Geoff Yost, and Mike Griggs who had success in their supplemental and consolation events.
Our Coaches, Andrew West and Jason Kline were both awarded with new diamonds this year. Mr. Kline earned his first and Mr. West earned his third. The picture below shows Mr. West accepting his third diamond plaque.

Myers Park was proud to cheer on other North Carolinians at the tournament. North Meck’s Dallas McKinney and Raina Enand were 11th place in Duo Interpretation. Meredith Potter & Caleb Frye of Pinecrest were the national champions in Public Forum. Arjun Chandran of Cary Academy was fourth place in Lincoln-Douglas.
Thanks to Mrs. K for writing and providing this video of the 2008 Spoof Duo from the Debanquet.
Those students who qualified to nationals will be catching their planes today for Las Vegas and a week of intense competition against others from around the country. We’ll probably post updates here on the homepage as they come. Wish them luck!
The Debanquet will be June 5, 2008 at 6:30 in the Cafeteria NOT TOMORROW AS ORIGINALLY SCHEDULED. It is pot-luck. Further Details To Come.
More then 20 students and coaches will be traveling to Appleton, WI for NCFL Grand Nationals this weekend.
We will keep you updated with results! You can track who advances to elimination rounds at www.foxcitiesncfl.org

The 2008 Debanquet will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at 6:00. The event will be located in the Martha Bowles Parish Hall at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Uptown Charlotte and will be catered by La-tea-da’s Catering and Events. Team members and class students and their families are invited.
As always, the banquet will celebrate our team - and our rich 43 year history. The banquet will feature performances from our IE team, recollections, pictures, funny stories, and, of course, the Westies.
A formal invitation will be mailed to your house with further information on the event, including information on tickets and reservations. Tickets and reservations are required; the cost (which is still being worked out) will be roughly $12 per person.
Reservations will be made online at www.mpdebate.org and will begin being taken Monday, May 12.
We hope to see everyone at this celebration May 28!
